New updates to AFA09! Miku, K-ON, and much more!
Okay, so the news is not exactly new. The details themselves were released last week, and i’m only posting about it now. Talk about lag time. >.<
BUT STILL–! The passing of time has not served to dampen the excitement I felt when I first heard about the news.
More after the jump.
First up, we have the seiyuus for one of the most popular anime of 2009, K-ON!, coming down. Yup, you read that right – the seiyuus for K-ON! will be here, live, in Singapore!
The K-ON Experience @ AFA09
This is the very first time the cast for K-ON! will appearing outside Japan, and we are all very excited about it. It is the first time a seiyuu will be setting foot down on our little island, after all. No, May’n doesn’t count. According to the official site that the AFA committee has set up, the cast will be doing a live dubbing of a scene from K-ON! on stage. There will also be an official Question and Answer session with the seiyuus. Fans will be able to submit questions via a channel that will be put up later at a tentative date – in other words, they just haven’t done it yet.
Certainly a step in the right direction. This can potentially open up a whole new avenue for us. Maybe in the coming years, seiyuus attending conventions overseas would be more commonplace, what with Midori Chihara being at Daicon over at Malaysia and with the cast of K-ON! coming over. With any luck, maybe even Nana Mizuki will come over one day. And I can finally live my dream of seeing Nana live in concert.
Here is a list of who played who in case you don’t already know.
Aki Toyosaki as Yui Hirasawa
Minako Kotobuki as Tsumugi Kotobuki
Satomi Satou as Ritsu Tainaka
Yōko Hikasa as Mio Akiyama
Hmmm….What are the chances of the cast performing “Don’t Say Lazy” live on stage? Let us know!
But that’s not all! We also have another famous personality who will be gracing our shores. But she’s isn’t human, neither is she alive. Wielding her deadly leeks of doom, she is none other than, the one and only
Hatsune Miku
Miku will be joining her other flesh and blood singers in AFA09’s “I LOVE anisong” stage. The problem now, of course, is how she will be making her apperance. Judging from what we have seen from concerts in Japan so far, we have one of two choices. First is the Animelo Summer Live version. The second is if they decide to being in that transparent hologram projection screen which they used in MikuFest 09.
Anyway, here is Miku appeared in Animelo Summer Live 09. 1, 2 – Aaaaaaaaaaaa~~~~~~
And this is how she looked during MikuFest 09.

I’m hoping for the MikuFest09 version, for obvious reasons.
“I LOVE Anisong!” Concert Infomation
The details for the concert was also released.
21st November – Ichirou Mizuki and Shoko Nakagawa with Special Appearance by Hatsune Miku
22nd November - Yoshiki Fukuyama and May’n
May’n and Yoshiki appearing together on the same day?!!? Awesome win! This further confirms rumors that they will be having a duet scene! Let’s go! Tosugeki Love Heart!
As in AFA08, there will apparently also be an autograph session. I wonder if a certain individual who had trouble keeping his knees off the ground will be appearing again this year…
I’ve also heard that they will be setting up walls to separate the concert area from the general masses, as compared to last year, where all and sundry can stand there and watch the concert. So if you want to catch May’n or Miku in action, be sure to buy a ticket. Prices below.
Japanese Industries Pulling their Weight in AFA09
Compared to last year, we will be having alot more big names appearing at AFA09. Tatsunoko Productions, most famous for their work in Macross and in Evangelion, will be appearing there. The other studio, MADHOUSE, needs no introduction. Who can forget their work in Death Note that saw an instant bloom in the number of L cosplayers worldwide?
Cospa is another company that most people would know about. As one of the world’s largest distributor of anime related goods, it was only a matter of time before they appear in AFA. Besides, the CEO of Cospa and local store KKnM have a close relation, since the “fine” people of Singapore make frequent purchases of Cospa related items at KKnM at a rate that…well…is a little unhealthy for one’s wallet.
Bushiroad will also be represented by Genesis Frontier. Bushiroad is a major seller of Trading Card Games (TCG) in Japan. Think of them as Japan’s version of “Wizards of The Coast”. And what will they be doing at AFA? Well, they will be host Singapore’s first Weiβ Schwarz Grand Prix, and the winner will be representing Singapore at the World Grand Prix Championship which will be held at Japan some time in December.
Phew. Long post sure is long. But anyway, we are almost at the end. Check out the ticket prices below. It’s quite idiot proof.
Compared to last year, ticket prices sure have increased. That is to be expected, given the number of stars who will be coming over this year. But still, one cannot help but hear…disquieting rumors….about people being angry at the increase in prices. But oh well, what can you do about it? Myself, I will be taking the $188 ticket. Hang in there, my wallet.
